How To Work At Factory?

HOW TO WORK AT FACTORY_

The sad news about the death of the founder of my first office was the subject of this paper. Really, I feel condolences and salute to the father for being firmly and smoothly leaving a company to the second generation. And actually the third generation was almost ready, just returned from London. Even though I was not in the company and preferred to carry out gallon lifting activities, actually I was still following their development. After all, according to the OOM ALFA book, the pharmaceutical industry environment is very narrow.

The second thing that made me a little itchy lately, besides being rarely bathed, is the comments that go into my writing about PPIC. There are those who agree, there are those who share, some actually feel down. If just read this blog, your already feel scared, what if you are chasing by Mr. Eko because there is Cefadroxil coming in as much as 600 kilograms? From the post, plus the search engine terms that underlie people straying there, I tried to find out that there were still many would people who did not understand about the structure in the factory, how their behavior was, what positions were in the factory, and so on.

I was a little confused when I made the title of this post because it was as if it would refer to a pan factory. Even though I means factory in the manufacturing process, but this diction is too magical to use. If you want to use the word ‘industry’, it also feels less interesting. So, yes, because actually what I wanted to explain is also relevant to pan factories, cement factories, but not children’s factories. In essence, the factory here is a place that is used to process raw materials into products.

Getting to know the word processing will certainly lead us to 3 terms, namely input, process, and output. There is something put in a process which then produces output. What is the input? Of course raw materials. The output is obviously the product. This concept is very simple, like fried rice as input, eating as a process, and feeling full followed by stool as output. One thing that is cleared from the process is the occurrence of something, it can be the transformation, mixing, subtraction or anything that is then different from the raw material and at the same time has added value. So, a more relevant analogy is there is rice, processed, and become fried rice. The core of work in a factory is just like that: processing raw materials into products.

This cycle is principally handled by the PRODUCTION sections. So, if you looked at vacancies that read PRODUCTION OPERATORS, PRODUCTION STAFF, PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR, PRODUCTION MANAGER, obviously they are important people in the factory, because they run the core business of a factory.

It is clear? Not yet? It’s bad.

Well, we can add Input-Process-Output cycles. The main question is where is the source of raw materials and what are the products that have been made? We can clearly know that raw materials are obtained from suppliers and products are made for sale to consumers. Yup, this last point is important. A factory that is as big as love quietly for 7 years even if there is no use if there is no product to buy. Suppliers are also important because from them a product can finally be made. If the rice seller instead supplies rice cake, how do we wanted to make fried rice? Fried rice cake, yes.

So the cycle becomes Supplier—Input—Process—Output—Consumer. Quite understandable, right?

Considering that the factory is not as easy as makes fried rice, then of course many people need to manage a process that is done. That’s what the job vacancy is. Well, sometimes I’m surprised, you know. People say that there is a lot of unemployment, blah-blah-blah, even though once they see vacancies in the newspaper or just come to the industrial area, obviously there are still many would people. The problem is that job seekers do not match the specifications with those sought. More so, anyway, the problem is. Unemployment Graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, vacancies open at the Paper Mill or vice versa. The humans in the factory is then placed into special structures that work handing in hand. Believe me, working in a factory is like a bicycle chain. One chain element is not connected, the bike is not running, just one element in the factory does not work, the factory can stop operating immediately.

Well, let’s is going to back to Suppliers. How do you make the raw materials belonging to the supplier belonged to the factory? The method is of course purchased. The task of buying this is fulfilled by PURCHASING. In some factories, this function belongs to a separate department, but in many other places the function is combined with other departments. Yes, all accords to the dynamics of each company that has a factory. By the way, this PURCHASING is playing just buying, basically what? Of course there has been a calculation of the needs to be carried out by PPIC. So, generally this PURCHASING part is to be executed to the supplier, so.

For the sale and purchase process, it will usually appear as the Purchase Orders (PO) as proof. Order letter is another language. This document is the basis for sending raw materials to the factory to be put into the warehouse. The part that receives and then store this is generally called LOGISTIC or WAREHOUSE. So we often seen job openings for WAREHOUSES, LOGISTIC STAFF, up to the SECTION HEAD OF WAREHOUSE PACKAGING MATERIAL in the newspapers. The task is to accept and then save, and then send it to the PRODUCTION sections to experience the process as described above. Don’t be mistaken for this logistical task. We will discuss this one by one later.

When will the warehouse send goods to PRODUCTION? Usually after the work order aliases Work Order drops. It’s definitely not coming downs from the sky. WO is coming down from which else if not the PPIC! WO becomes a PRODUCTION ordering to work and of course in work must use raw materials already in the warehouse.

As I said earlier, PRODUCTION is the core, the key to everything. And everything depends on the factory, if the nut factory produces nuts, the factory knows how to make it. To ensure the work is done correctly, usually using the latest sophisticated tools or machines. So don’t be surprised if many PRODUCTION SUPERVISORS are traveling abroad, one of which is to buy the production machines.

Once finished, the item is returned to the WAREHOUSE for storage. Later, WAREHOUSE will send to CONSUMERS. These characteristics are also different. For factories that have a Make To Order, WO goes down once there is an order. This is one of them in the engine factory, yes, the factory that makes the engine. There were people ordering machines, agreed on prices etc., just dealt with, the WO went down, the engine was finished and then sent. But generally factories are adherents of the Make To Stock stream, making it to stock. This has the consequence that the items are damaged, lost or sublimed in the warehouse or if the wrong calculation actually causes out of stock because it is made less than consumer demands. Who is responsible for calculating this? Nothing else, nothing: cheerful PPIC.

Yes, actually the core of the factory is that. But it becomes not simple when there is an obligation to produce quality products. If you get a bottles of mineral water that can’t be opened, you will curse the factory, right? Or if you find a Chitato wrapper, it contains Chiki, then, we will take a photo, then share it on Facebook.

To guarantee the product is good and according to the wishes of consumers, the name QUALITY section appears. In the old pattern known as QUALITY CONTROL, only control. For example, new items entered from suppliers, checked and decided to be used for PRODUCTION. Or the product produced is then checked for conformity with the wishes of consumers, if it fits, it can be sent. The more modern, there is such thing as QUALITY ASSURANCE, which is broader in scope. This section generally takes a greater role. So now the direction of QC is only to check in the laboratory for raw materials and products, the QA that passes it to the market. Again, this really depends on the dynamics of each industry. If you have friends whom work in a factory, we as laymen can actually know the qualities of the product from that factory. This is mainly for everyday types of soap, sanitary napkins, food, etc. If our friends work in Production or Quality, and they don’t want to use or eat products from their own factories, we must be vigilant. They themselves don’t want to, because they know something. But if they are proud, we must support them to keep paid by buying their products.

Finished? Yes, the original is just that, until we realizes that it’s 12 o’clock and the PRODUCTION OPERATORS are starving. They came to the canteen and found the places as empty as heart and left behind by marriage because of an MBA. Yes, besides the main process, the factory really needs supportive alias support. Normally, this supportive part only supports. So, whatever you want the peoples described earlier, it must is followed because if you can’t inhibit the spreads of a product. At least if there is a large part in the factory there are 4 majors parts of this support unit.

First is IT. That often the computers in the production staffs room is used by girl staff to shop online shops either via Amazon, Tokopedia or Alibaba or by managers to apply for credit cards, and male staff to open Mojok, of course it is a fact. However, the computer must operate and turn on to make a report, for PPIC to calculate the material to be purchased as well as other matters related to production. So, IT people must be there. In some factories, the IT people there are at all levels. Whatever your problem, starting from a cable bitten by a mouse or broken internet access must be overcome. Pulling cables, carrying CPUs, hanging out on ThinClient servers are clearly an everyday activity of IT peopled in the factory. Some factories mainly prioritize the uses of system enablers such as Oracle or SAP — having IT business systems. It works equally well, but it doesn’t pull the cable, just pulling the hair because it’s almost crazy with the program language. You could say, if everything is smooth, surely forget about IT, but once it is down, the IT people are living things in the world that must be found immediately, even if he is sleeping on the mezzanine.

The second important support is Engineering. In your opinion, who can guarantee that a production machines purchased abroad is lit well? Obviously people are ENGINEERING. Almost the same as IT, if the road engine is fine, if the air conditioner is in a peaceful office likes in Puncak and it is not noisy like Ahok, everyone immediately forgets about the ENGINEERING section. Once the engine is broken, the world is turned upside down. So, ENGINEERING people always become humans whom must stand by when the production process is running.

I told a story about an empty canteen. If the incident is real, then those who are severely beaten are GENERAL AFFAIRS. In many places, this part of the era called GA combines with Human Resources in Personnel. Again, depending on the factory. Well, this is GA that deals with any kind of crap. Lunch in the canteen, yes. There were people demonstrating in front of the factory, they were dizzied too. Cleaning tool? Obviously, yes. Is there a snake stuck in the mouse trap? GA is still in charge. Even including the matter of ghosts in the warehouse and offerings that are needed, even then the GA claims. The production process may still been able to run without GA, but it just works. Walk with snakes in the production room, walk with angry and grumbling operators because they aren’t fed or warehouse operators who are afraid to see ghosts. Looks trivial GA tasks, but they hold everything. Everything that is ignored by others.

One more thing is of course FINANCES. So definitely the issue of salary is the main thing. They were not in the factory cycles, but they were the ones who gave money to PURCHASING to buy raw materials, who gave money to GA to pay for electricity, gave money to buy machines, to giving money to buy offerings. They also receive and manage money from sales proceeds and strive for the maximum profit of the owner’s prosperity. This is what causes them to sometimes fight with the perpetrators in the factory cycles.

With the presence of major players and supporting players the process can run smoothly. But without MARKETING, everyone broke upped. They are the spearhead, because they sell products. So, most of them like them. MARKETING hobbies to fight with PPIC, you know. As I wrote on the other side of this blog, Marketing meetings is things that make me wanted to resign from PPIC. Heuheu.

In a factory that continues to grow, there is a name called Research and Development, aka RnD, aka R & D. Honda manufacturers in Indonesia clearly have RnD, because they continued to spawn new products. It is impossible for the product to automatically appeared if there is no research and development first. There is also Business Development aka Busdev who is responsible for prompting the owner about what products should be made. And there are also parts related to Regulation, this only exists in factories whose products must have marketing authorization or at least must be registered with the Government.

Even in the pan factory scale, all the elements I mentioned in this post exists but with multiple roles. There was a pan factory owner, and at the same time Busdev saw the types of pan that sold welled in the market. Then there are the binaries who become financial managers and also GA as well as buying gloves. It may also be a Purchasing when buying materials to collectors. There is a foreman who has a role in production, he is also a technique, and sometimes a warehouse. And in the end there was also a rotating single in the corner of the warehouse. Yes, all positions are important but relevant to the scale of the factory, the smaller, the more duplicates. Even for the size of the Fried Rice seller, he runs all the functions.

Thus, hopefully, it can be understood. This paper is not a woman, so this paper does not ask to be understood. Heuheu. Greetings from the factory!
